Many colleges and universities are flattening their organizations by reducing in-house architectural and engineering staff -- if they had much of an in-house staff at all. While outsourcing technical disciplines may reduce overhead, it comes at the cost of the campus setting becoming fully realized as a community asset because a coherent vision is lost in the absence of a technical culture informed by an historical understanding. Founded by facility professionals at one of the largest university campuses in the world SmartCampus.US is a platform for preserving expertise and developing new expertise for the emergent Internet of Everything and the Smart Campus transformation.
